Colour Conversations
Colour Conversations is an ongoing series of small-format abstract paintings exploring the emotional and visual power of colour.
Each painting is built around simple fields of colour that suggest windows, doorways or portals. The boundaries between these forms are deliberately softened and blurred, creating an uncertain space between what is seen and what is imagined. Colours appear to glow from within the canvas, sometimes bright and optimistic, like looking through a window onto a beautiful day, and at other times deeper, quieter and more contemplative.
Although abstract, the paintings are rooted in familiar experiences. Some suggest seascapes, horizons and distant light. Others evoke memory, transition, loss or sacrifice. The intention is not to depict a particular place, but to create a feeling of being somewhere else, even if only for a moment.
The paintings are deliberately simple in structure, allowing colour to carry the emotion. A blue meeting turquoise, maroon against tangerine, or orange dissolving into red becomes more than a combination of colours. Each relationship creates its own atmosphere, its own sense of depth and its own emotional response.
The series is about what lies beyond the obvious: the space between colours, between places and between memory and imagination.
